About the need for water on all sides
Can you hear it?
The sound of the water's surface breaking as the freediver, wearing a snorkel and mask, settles into the shallow water. One by one, he picks the oysters growing on the seabed, slowly filling his net.
Traditionally, dredging with heavy iron chains has been the method used to harvest oysters, but Kristian Borbjerggaard wants to prove that it is possible to make a living without overexploiting the fjord's resources.
The Limfjord holds a special place in Kristian's heart. Although he and his girlfriend lived in a lovely house in Holstebro, they spent almost all their time at the family's 69-square-meter cottage on Venø. Two years ago, they took the plunge and moved to the island permanently. He needs to be surrounded by water on all sides, and even though he works twice the hours of a full-time job, there is no stress. Something happens when you stand on the ferry and approach the coast of Venø. That is when peace sets in.
