About jumps and holiday vibes at the harbor
Can you hear it?
The sharp smack as the wakeboard lands on the water after a jump blends with laughter and squeals from the nearby fun park. In front of the café, people lounge casually in brightly colored pallet furniture, chatting with each other.
Seventeen-year-old Magnus, his older brother Noah, and three of their friends have put on their wetsuits, and shortly it will be their turn to be pulled around the cable park—over kickers and rails—with a board strapped to their feet. Magnus has decided that this is the year he will learn to do an “air trick,” where he sharply turns the board so that he is lifted into the air without using a jump. A failed attempt previously gave him a concussion, but this summer he is determined to succeed.
When the weather is good, you can almost always find Magnus, Noah, and their friends at the harbor. During the summer holidays, it can be every single day. Sometimes the brothers bring their parents, and sometimes their aunt and uncle. It is actually their cousin Elisabeth’s place. She has returned to Struer after seven years in the Caribbean—and she has brought the atmosphere with her. “Everyday’s a good day” is the mantra, and you can feel the holiday vibe even on a Wednesday.
